I've been quit busy lately with my photography, more assignment works. Makes me haven't travel for quite sometime now. I'm so envy with Louis Pang, he is in Hong Kong now and after that continue to India. If you don't know his blog its www.louispang.com/blog . I hope I can spend time to travel some where may be next year.

Penang

I traveled to Penang recently to just to enjoy the food there but what I found out when I get there is not just the food but a lot more. I'm fascinated with richness of the Chinese culture in there. I stayed in one of the hotel in George Town near Penang Road, that is where I first saw a lot of Trishaw. I had a ride on it for the first time and find it very fun, just sit on it and the driver will take you around. There are a lot of old buildings in George Town area and my driver was kind enough to tell a little bit about the area histories. One thing about riding the Trishaw was, they will go in the middle of the busy road and all the car are just simply avoiding them or even stop and give a way for the Trishaw. I almost jump from the Trishaw when a car was coming toward us, the car slow down and give us a way. It was fun!! I visited few places in Penang, the Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang Hill went with the funicular train and of coz shopping at various shopping complex..the Prangin Mall Komtar and the new Queensbay Mall. Since the trip is for food trip, I went to many food stalls in Penang streets. Tried the Hokkien Mee at the food stalls in Chulia Street, Penang Char Kueh Tiau which I like very much and also Nasi Kandar at Line Clear food stall.
I would say the trip was fun 7 days was not enough. may be will come back again in the future for more.

Durian Season

Anyone of you have tried Durian? You can try Durian now if you are visiting Sabah. The Durian season started early this year. The people start selling on the side of the road since August. Now even more people setting up stalls for Durian. This picture I took it at Pekan Nabalu which is on the way to Kinabalu National Park. It is a normal stopping place for Kinabalu Park Day trip tour where the market also has stalls for handicraft. Basically in Sabah we have two type of Durian, the Normal Durian and a Wild Durian. The Normal Durian had a very strong smell where if you take it into a room with aircondition, the smell will stay in the room for a week. That is why its not allowed in the hotel room and coaches. The Durian was actually called as the "King of the Tropical Fruits" by Alfred Wallace. Find out by your self why he said so.

Uninstall Bitdefender

I am so piss when last night my laptop become super slow and cannot open any single file after installing the Bitdefender Antivirus 2008. I reboot again and again even trying to start my laptop on a safe mode but still not good. I restart my laptop using the last setting that work then I uninstalled bitdefender and again reboot and now it back on track. Did anyone of you experiencing this before? I'm not sure either something wrong during installation or the software of antivirus had problem.

Kudat Road

Kudat is well known to it's beautiful landscapes. Hills,

more. Kudat is one of my favorite photography places
in Sabah. Straight road and scenic views, makes you

My Dream Photography Trip

I always dream of going to many places just for
photography. Going to tick all the World Heritage
Site on my list, I've only been to one of the UNESCO
list..guess where? of coz it in my own country where
else, Mount Kinabalu. More to go on the list, most
wanted is Victoria Fall. Not just that
but also Africa it self is in my wish
list of photography dream trip .
How many of you out there have been
to Africa? I like to know your experience.
Well it because I never been there so
its good to hear a sort comment about
that place from some one who have been
there. Kindly post your experience in the comment
corner. I wish to capture a picture of this great cat.
This my favorite in my wish list. Another
one in my list is The Great Wall Of China.
I'm half Chinese but never beento China,
not even can speak in any Chinesedialect.
Well just under stand a little bit, just enough
to get by. TheGreat wall of China is
also one of the World Heritage Site . It is in my wish
list. Actually there are so many
on the list of UNESCO's World
Heritage Site. It is almost impossible
to visit all of it. unless if you have alot
of money to travel. I hope to sell more
on my print and travel the world but
I think thats is difficult to do if can't
sell many of my print. Well.. we'll see.

Watch tv online

For some Malaysian overseas now you can watch
Malaysian tv online, before you can watch you need
to register 1st then youcan watch. Only tv3, Ntv7 and
8tv available at the moment, no tv1 and tv2.
It is still under trial tho but people can start watching
it now. Just go to www.worldip.tv . Enjoy the show
my fellow Malaysian out there.

Cruise Ship "Costa Allegra"

Today we handle a ship that came in to Kota Kinabalu For only 12hours docking. The ship called "Costa Allegra" . The ship carrying 800 passenger mix nationalities. Mostly European people. For today stop in Kota Kinabalu, they arranged two choice of a tour for the day. Some people went to the island and some went for a city tour. I handle the group of German + English people to the island. They do half day island trip which is they visited two island infront of Kota Kinabalu city which is Gaya Island for jungle trekking then to Mamutik Island for swimming and snorkeling. About 12pm they back to the ship then they free to walk around the city for shopping. The ship off to Brunei around 7pm.

Sapi Island

Kiulu Rafting

This are the recent picture I've took. A white water rafting in Kiulu River. The water level was not very high that time, only grad 1-2. But that is enough for these rafters to have some fun. Kiulu River is located on the east of Tamparuli Town about 1 1/2 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu. This was organize through Riverbug . For those youngsters, make sure to try the Kiulu White Water Rafting in Sabah.

My recent Climb On Mount Kinabalu

I climb Mount Kinabalu again on the 26 april.
it was my 4th climb(to summit),many just reach Laban Rata. This
time it was a bit challenging because of the windy
condition on the top of the mountain.

It was very difficult for as I'm Not use to the cold
condition. I manage to captured few shots even my
finger was numb to press the shutter button.

It was a beatiful morning with a beautiful sunrise.

I captured some climbers having a rest, Some others
have difficulties because of the altitude.

Finally the Low's Peak but unfortunately I didn't reach
there this time because of the unbearable cold.

That was me at KM8. I only reach that point then descending
back to the rest house.
The whole experience was great but after the descent,
left my leg in pain for three day phobia of staircase.

I definitely recommend this trip to anyone interested
in climbing or adventure but GO TO THE GYM FIRST!!
At least of training for 3 month so that you don't feel
the pain after.

Borneo Steam Train

For the train lover, this is one of the things

that they should not miss. Going on to the

only Borneo's Steam engine Train trip. The

train trip Start from Tanjung Aru Station to

Papar Town and return back. Guest on board

will have a chance to stop and visit Kinarut

town that used to be Called China Road but

due to the local people cannot pronouns

China road properly then Become Kinarut.

During the stop as well, guest onboard can

also visit the Chinese temple

Not far from the station.(20 minute stop).

Then continue to Papar town where another 20 minute

Stop, it is also place where the engine will go

on the turn table to be turn to different direction.

Heading back to Tanjung Aru station. Lunch will

be serve on board in "Tiffin" style.

Back to Tanjung Aru station around 1330hrs.

The Train is powered by charcoal. Currently there

are two engine that been use for the trip

That runs every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Currently the train service was stopped for 1 year

for repairing the whole rail line .

I will post in this blog as soon as they start to

run the steam train again.

Bajau Water Village

This people has a very interesting lifestyle in that water village.
the Bajau Tribe is the second largest tribe in Sabah.
If you have a chance to travel to Sabah make sure you had some time visiting
this village. Very Interesting.

Deramakot unsuccess trip

3 days 2 night in Deramakot forest with WWF staff and BBC crew not very successful trip wuth elephant hunting to collar the alpha female.To get to Deramakot we had to drive about 2hours to get to the forestry rest house.We need to pass a few gates where we must show our permit of entry (can be obtain from Yayasan Sabah). It was a graveled road along the way in. We also seen alot of Orang Utan's nest on the trees. The population seems quite good in there. Enough for this time,I'll write again soon.

Next Trip ( Derama kot)

I'll be going to Derama Kot starting 28th feb to 6th mar with Cede Prudente.
Also with BBC filming on collaring the Wild Borneon Pigmi Elephant.
This should help in tracking and also counting the population of Borneo's
Endemic Elephant.

For this month, its a bit boring for me. Not much trip on schedule.

For this month, I visited few cool places to hang around in Kota Kinabalu.
Upperstar cafe, The Atmosphere, Tanjung Aru First Beach Cafe and BB Cafe Gaya Street.
These are the few places that usual spot for some local to chill.. Some tourist also come to these places to hang out in the evening. Well.. two of these places are quite posh though..
the Atmosphere and The Tanjung Aru Fisrt Beach Cafe.
The Atmosphere is quite interesting to visit, the restaurant also famously known the only revolving restaurant in Kota Kinabalu.

All of these places has WIFI. so internet is available in many places.

I'm currently online with my laptop sitting in a restaurant called Kopitiam.Found on a street called Australian Place in Kota Kinabalu.The restaurant was awarded by Sabah Tourism as "The Best General Restaurant" in Kota Kinabalu. Inside of this restaurant full of displayed photos and stories of World War II on the wall. They decor the interior using old style of material,the chair,table,the clock and even some old radio.

Visitor can use their laptop for wireless internet connection here like I do now but the down side is the connection to the net you have to buy the TMNET hotspot card which cost Rm28 available at any TM point shop.For more info of this place logon to www.kkheritagewalk.com

Klias and Garama River Trip( Borneo)

Interested in doing some easy boat trip search for the Proboscis Monkey? Klias River is one of the place visitor can go boat cruising in search for this special primate. The monkey is one of few endemic mammals in Borneo, where only few places in Sabah can be easy access by tourist to see this monkey. Klias River is one of the easiest places to visit. It is only take about two hours drive to get there. The place was located south of Kota Kinabalu in Beaufort District. Tourist can either do the Klias River by just a day trip or staying overnight. Which is also possible to do where there are a few lodges has been setup for visitor to experience Klias. The Proboscis Lodge offers place to stay where from budget room to private room where bathroom are attach include air-condition. For day trip, their itineraries usually start at 1300hours pick up from their hotel in Kota Kinabalu then drive to Klias Proboscis Lodge Jetty. Light refreshment will be serve before depart for the river cruise at 1600hours. The durations of the boat trip normally about 3 hours and a half, where they will search for the Proboscis Monkey and other wildlife until sun down. Binocular are essential for this trip and a telephoto lens for anyone planning to take better picture of wildlife. When darkness comes, tourist will have a chance to witness the amazing flickering of thousands of tiny light on the mangrove trees created by the Fireflies. Back to the Jetty by 1930hours and dinner is serve at the Proboscis Lodge. After dinner then drive back to Kota Kinabalu. For the visitors who planning to stay overnight at the Proboscis Lodge, their itineraries is different from the day trip.
Usually for overnight trip is it departing around 1300hours from Kota Kinabalu and drive to Klias. For this trip instead of one boat trip, they will do two-boat trip where the first one is in the afternoon soon after arriving at the Proboscis Lodge and the second one they do it in the morning the next day. The fire flies trip usually done on the first day.
The food at the Proboscis Lodge mostly mix between Malay food and little bit of Chinese. They usually serve in buffet at many different choices of food. The restaurant was just where the jetty was. They also got a bar that serve soft drink and cold beer in a bottle. Klias is good for anyone who wants to get away from the city for a day or two. Trips are very relaxed enjoyable.
